The Evidence that God's Judgment is Right

1st & 2nd Thessalonians

2 Thessalonians 1:1–12 (Part 1) | Within a few months of Paul’s first letter to the Thessalonians, he sends a second letter to this young church. From the outset of the letter, it is apparent that the Thessalonian believers are growing in their faith in God and are increasing in their love for one another. But it is also apparent that the persecution of this young church has not let up at all. If anything, it has gotten worse. Why would God allow this? Why would God allow his people to suffer so unjustly—at the hands of the unjust no less? Is this a sign that God is against his people or that they are somehow in the wrong? In this sermon, we focus on what Paul sees in this unjust suffering and in the Thessalonians’ steadfast endurance in the midst of such strong opposition.
