Jesus and the Gentiles
Mark 7:24–37 | In Mark 7:24–37, Jesus enters Gentile territory for the first time in Mark’s Gospel, apart from one stop in Mark 5 for less than a day. Of all the things that happened during Jesus’s journey through Gentile land, Mark tells just two main stories in this text. First, Jesus interacts with a Gentile woman who is in desperation over the condition of her little girl who is possessed by an unclean spirit. Second, Jesus returns to the Decapolis where a deaf man who cannot speak well is brought to Jesus.
