Close1 Thessalonians 2:17–3:13 | In this text, Paul moves on from his reflections on his time in Thessalonica to what has been happening in the last several months since he was “torn away” from these young Christians. In this sermon, we first walk through the entirety of the text, before stepping back to consider three repeated themes from the text: 1) Satan’s opposition to the work of the gospel; 2) Suffering as the normal experience of the people of God; and 3) The coming of the Lord as the aim of our gospel ministry.
