CloseGalatians 4:21–5:1 | In Galatians 4:21–5:1, Paul does something that he never does elsewhere in his writings. He takes an Old Testament story and provides an “allegorical” interpretation of the events. In this sermon, we work to explain and clarify what Paul is doing with the story of Hagar and Sarah, before highlighting the main theme of the text: the contrast between relying on human effort and wisdom to bring about what God promises versus relying fully and solely on God’s gracious and powerful promise.
