There Is Another King

1st & 2nd Thessalonians

Acts 17:1–10 | Paul’s letters to the Thessalonians are written within a year of his visit to Thessalonica. In this introductory sermon to our series on the Thessalonian Epistles, we examine Acts 17:1–10 where Luke records some of the key events of Paul’s initial visit to Thessalonica. On the one hand, we see how God birthed and grew this church in those early days; on the other hand, we see how intense the opposition was in Thessalonica to the work of the gospel and, particularly, to the message that there is another King, Jesus. This sermon is intended to set the stage for our study of 1 and 2 Thessalonians.
