ClosePsalm 89 | The collection of 150 Psalms is divided into five books of Psalms. The first three books are focused specifically on the coming king from the line of David who would crush the heads of God’s enemies, deliver God’s people, and, one day, rule the world. In this sermon, we focus on the last Psalm of the third book: Psalm 89, a Psalm of praise for God’s steadfast love and faithfulness, which is, at the same time, a Psalm of lament and sorrow over the seeming failure of God to fulfill his promises to David. In the same Psalm, we find expressions of great joy in God’s steadfast love, as well as expressions of confusion and serious questions about where God’s love is today.
