Reforming Gospel Ministry, Part 1

1st & 2nd Thessalonians

1 Thessalonians 2:1–8 | Although Paul was only in Thessalonica for a few months, he spends the first 16 verses of 1 Thessalonians 2 rehearsing how he, Silas, and Timothy brought the gospel, how the Thessalonians responded to the gospel, and, especially, how Paul and his co-workers lived out the gospel while in Thessalonica. This text allows us to see Paul’s heart for the gospel and for people perhaps as much as any other text he wrote. In this sermon, which is part 1 of our two-part study on 1 Thessalonians 2:1–16, we examine the first 8 verses of the chapter, considering how Paul and his co-workers not only gave the gospel to the Thessalonians but how they also gladly gave them their own lives.
